John G. Tower Elementary

Our Student2Student team loves to help! Today we were able to help clean up crayons for our Art Teacher. The end of the year is quickly approaching so we are all happy to help our teachers in any way we can.

John Tower will be participating in a benefit fundraiser tomorrow. Burkburnett ISD will allow staff and students to wear a hat to school tomorrow, May 8, for a donation of $1 (or any other amount). Your student can turn in the donation to his/her teacher and the teacher will turn the donations into the front office. All proceeds will go to support Paxton Barclay, a first grader at Valley that has been diagnosed with DIPG (an inoperable brain tumor). This will serve as a fundraiser for Paxton and his family. Thank you for your support!

2nd grade went to River Bend today! We had a great experience!

Bulldog Biker Gang Summer Camp June 25-29th Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30-7:30 pm and Saturday at 8:30-9:30 am in the Bulldog Stadium parking lot, 801 Coulter Dr, Burkburnett, TX 76354. There will be more group rides over the summer to prepare riders for the HHH races. Please follow us on Facebook for later dates and times. Riders must have their own two-wheeled bike, personal helmet, and a bright shirt that they will bring to camp. Riders must wear bright clothing to be seen on the road. Bikes must be checked for fit by the coaches before the parent or guardian leaves. Rider's seats should be high enough for the rider to be on their tippy toes. This camp will teach safe street riding skills, bike handling skills, maintenance, and train for the HHH 10k or 25 mile. Riders will receive a bright training jersey, water bottle, drawstring bag, and a free ticket to ride in the HHH 10k race with an adult registration. The drawstring bag is for our riders to carry their water bottle. Many child size bikes are too small to attach a water bottle cage. The camp fee is $15. Kindergarten students have been enjoying their ABC Countdown to 1st Grade! Yesterday on the ABC Countdown was the letter G for Game Day! 🧩🎲♟️They will get to enjoy 19 more days of the countdown until they get to the letter Z for Zoom on to 1st Grade! ☺️ 🎉

Please keep all questions focused on policies, processes, or facilities at the district or campus level. Dr. Owen will not be answering any questions about specific personnel or student situations. Dr. Owen will give a district update and then answer your submitted questions. Dr. Owen will end the town hall with a live Q & A that will allow you to ask questions in real-time. CONGRATULATIONS!!! to the following Tower Students who were selected to be in the 2024 Tower Talent Show. These acts were selected by the Tower Creative Team which is a group of 3rd-5th grade students. "The Greatest Show" will perform on Tuesday, May 28 at 9:30am and 1:30pm. Thank you to all who auditioned!

ATTENTION: We are having problems with drivers driving around our buses when they are stopped to pick up or drop of our students. When a bus is stopped with its flashers on and stop signs and arm extended, it is illegal to drive around them. Please stop and wait for the bus to resume its route. We conducted a random test of this last Thursday. We had 19 people drive around our buses while the flashers were on and students were being dropped off. This is extremely dangerous and is going to result in a student getting hit. We are notifying the local police department of this issue and violators run the risk of being pulled over and ticketed. We ask you to please be patient and wait for our buses to resume their routes. A student getting hurt or killed is not worth a couple of minutes. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Today was Tower's third grade STEM Club's last meeting. Students had an incredible design challenge that required a lot of critical thinking. The task was to create a Rube Goldberg chain reaction using a marble. The challenge was not only accepted, but mastered! Way to go 3rd graders!! ❤️

Third graders at Tower are learning to engineer a compound machine to perform the task of rescuing a trapped tiger. Students are using the engineering design process to design and create their prototype which we will evaluate next week.
