AREA BAND RESULTS!
Congrats! BMS Symphonic Band had a great showing at Area OPS!
Our "Darklands March" received 3rd place!! They only take the top 2 marches to compete at State. But- WOW, what a FANTASTIC SHOWING BAND! SOOO VERY CLOSE!!
Our other two songs were in the "music selections" category of which the top 3 are selected to compete at State. "Our Kingsland Spring" was 10th place & "Moscow, 1941" was 12th place.
The BMS Band represented Burk very well at Area!! I'm so very proud of all of our band kids and their accomplishments! Congratulations Band!!

BACKGROUND:
In May, we submitted Symphonic Band's 2023 UIL recordings to OPS (Outstanding Performance Series). This is a direct competition between MS Bands. Judges select a couple of bands from the Region to advance to the Area Competition. From there, the Area judges select a couple of bands to compete at the State level in July 2023.

BMS UIL Theatre performed their end of semester student directed play for the BMS Unified Class! Students from the UIL theatre class planned out all of the show details, and the Unified students were a great audience!
The Beginner Band received a Superior First Division this weekend at the Castaway Contest! In addition, the Beginner Band received the ***Outstanding Award*** for the best performance of the day!!

Come out to the Juneteenth Celebration and enjoy glow in the dark Disc Golf on June 16th at the north end of the Bulldog Stadium Parking lot. Or, sign up for mud volleyball for June 17th. Use the QR code for either. All proceeds go to benefit next year's BHS Senior Celebration!

BMS STEM club met today after school and built kites and then flew them outside!
It is time to turn in ALL school library books! Please get these turned in before the end of the school year!
Ms. Sonsini’s Design and Modeling classes creating and making toys that children could use in physical therapy.
BHS hosted 8th grade tours for our incoming Freshman class for the 2023-2024 school year.
Big thank you to the tour guides who were members of StuCo, PALS, NHS, and S2S.
Next year is going to be amazing!
Reminder - Immunization Clinic is today!
In Ms. Brewster’s and Mrs. Moseley’s writing classes at BMS, they created Mother’s Day cards for the residents and nurses at Evergreen Care Center. The students wrote poetry and made a gift bag to wrap a pair of cute socks for each of the recipients of their gift.
Just wanted to send a HUGE Thank You to our amazing PTO and all the parents that donated their time and items last week for Teacher Appreciation! It was very much appreciated and we are so thankful for all the kindness you all showed our teachers!
BMS students are turning in Chromebooks on Monday, May 15th! Please make sure that chromebooks, original cases, and chargers are all brought to school!
